Lift Week in Orlando

The Lift and Access Showcase & Symposium and 2012 Crane Operator Rodeo National Championship headline a number of events taking place during the week of Oct. 22.

In 2012, the Lift and Access Showcase & Symposium will be an event unlike any other in the lifting equipment industry. For the first time, the Showcase & Symposium will be held on the East Coast. Additionally, Lift and Access has teamed up with Rental Equipment Register (RER) magazine and Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers to bring an even broader range of manufacturers, vendors, and buyers together, as well as to enable them to take part in one of the largest public auctions of the year.

This year, the event will encompass the Symposium educational sessions on Oct. 23-24, Showcase machine demonstrations and walk-around presentations on Oct. 24, and a Vendor Pavilion exhibition on Oct. 24-25. The exhibition also will be co-located and held in conjunction with the Ritchie Bros. unreserved public auction—featuring cranes, lifting, and access equipment—on Oct. 25.

Attendees, which may include contractors, equipment rental houses, and trades personnel, will learn about specific equipment classes and their features and benefits; operate machines through demonstration areas; take part in education sessions; discuss component technologies and aftermarket offerings with exhibitors; network with colleagues; and bid on, purchase, and sell equipment on site.

In addition to the Lift and Access Showcase & Symposium, the second IPAF US Convention will also be held on October 22 and 23, 2012 in Celebration, Florida. This member event is also open to non-members. This year’s focus is on aerial work platform (AWP) management responsibilities. Topics to be covered will range from buying used equipment, to owner responsibility, and an update on ANSI standards. For more information or to register visit www.ipaf.org

Product walk-around presentations
Three product classes have been selected for review during the Showcase walk-around presentations, which will take place Oct. 24 at the Ritchie Bros. auction facility in Orlando, Fla. Mega boom lifts, mega telescopic handlers, and compact rough-terrain scissor lifts will be the main focus at this year’s expanded Showcase.

RER magazine also will be reviewing classes of skid steer loaders and light towers during the product walk-around presentations. Visit www.rermag.com for more details.

Symposium education sessions
With some of the largest contractors expected to attend, the Symposium sessions have been crafted to include some of the most important topics for equipment owners and fleet managers. On Oct. 23, construction safety managers have been invited to discuss “Working at Heights While Using Aerial Work Platforms, Mast-Climbing Work Platforms, and Telehandlers.” This Symposium will take place at 4 pm at the Bohemian Hotel in Celebration, Fla. It is being held in conjunction with the Scaffold & Access Industry Association’s regional meeting.

Another planned presentation is an updated review of Tier 4 engines and how the recent requirements will affect equipment owners and service personnel. This panel discussion will be held at 4:15 pm on Oct. 24 at Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers’ Davenport, Fla., facility.

Crane Operator Rodeo Championship
Following the Lift and Access Showcase & Symposium, the 2012 Crane Operator Rodeo National Championship will take place at the Ritchie Bros. Auctioneer’s Davenport facility. At this event, which will be held Oct. 27-28, the winners of five Regional Qualifying Rodeos will compete in Orlando for the title of National Champion. Regional events are taking place now. RER joins Ritchie Bros. as Co-Sponsor of Lift and Access Showcase

The Lift and Access Showcase & Symposium is gaining momentum, and Rental Equipment Register (RER) magazine and its parent company, Penton Media, recently signed on as a co-sponsor of this year’s event. Guy Ramsey, president of Maximum Capacity Media LLC, which publishes Lift and Access, said the partnership with RER and Penton Media will broaden and strengthen the annual Equipment Showcase.
The Lift and Access Showcase & Symposium will be held in conjunction and collocated with the Ritchie Bros.’ auction held during the week of Oct. 23 at its facility in Orlando, Fla. This new, larger venue will provide ample opportunity for manufacturers to display their products and give attendees unparalleled access to the latest equipment on the market today.

David Miller, group publisher for Penton Media, publisher of Rental Equipment Register, said: “The Lift and Access Showcase and Symposium event collocated onsite with a world-renowned Ritchie Bros. Auction event is clearly a winning formula. About 45 percent of all rental company revenue and activity is in the lift and access segment. By partnering with this event, RER magazine, and other Penton Media publications, serves not only this segment and all of these dealers, but it also opens the door for us to engage other related suppliers as well as different types of general equipment to showcase and support buying activity for their brands in Orlando.”

Now in its sixth year, the Lift and Access Equipment Showcase & Symposium is an interactive industry event that provides a venue for equipment manufacturers and aftermarket vendors to connect with buyers and users of a variety of lifting and construction equipment. More than 100 pieces of equipment will be on-hand for demonstration, and educational seminars will be presented throughout the event.
Rob Blackadar, Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers’ divisional manager for national accounts, said: “This is an opportunity to connect with buyers of new and used equipment during the collocated events. It will be an experience like no other in the industry.” For more information on the Lift and Access Showcase & Symposium, contact Katie Parrish at 480-241-5625 or kparrish@maxcapmedia.com or visit www.liftshowcase.com.
